4 Things I Use

4.1 Machines

• bea-pi: Raspberry Pi 3B+ running Raspbian headlessly, used for JTAG and other hardware debugging
• bea-phone: Apple iPhone 15 running iOS 18.4.1
• bea-laptop: Dell Precision 5570 running NixOS (config here)
• hecate: Home-lab cluster running Proxmox, hosting this site, my media server, and several other things

4.2 Tools

• Fliptra: Flipper Zero used as a digital multitool and as a development platform for BEATRIX
• Iphigenia: Aula F75 mechanical keyboard used both with bea-laptop and for my day job

4.3 Software

• Tailscale: VPN service used for secure access to all devices remotely
• Lighttpd: Web server used on hecate to serve this site
• Jellyfin: Media server used on hecate for my music
• OpenOCD: Debugging server used on bea-pi to communicate with the device being worked on
• Neovim: Primary text editor and IDE used on bea-laptop
• Zotero: Reference and document manager used on bea-laptop
• Ghostty: Terminal emulator used on bea-laptop
• Zsh: Shell program used on bea-laptop, in combination with Oh-My-Zsh

4.4 Languages

Work is currently underway on versions of this site in both my non-native languages. My notes and vocabulary flashcards for Russian are available on Github.

• English: Spoken natively - roughly General American, with some influences from growing up in south Texas
• French: Spoken at a B2 (conversational fluency) level - primarily Metropolitan French with some Quebecois influence
• Russian: Spoken at an A1 (beginner) level - primarily so-called “standard Russian”, though it’s quite early to tell
